Our monthly Comedy Night is always a great evening’s entertainment. Our compere for the evening introduces some of the best up and coming acts on the comedy circuit, and with doors to The Plaza Suite open at 7.30 so there’s plenty of time to get a drink before the show starts at 8pm.

Winner of the EMMA Award for Best Comedienne, Ria has been entertaining both UK and international audiences for over a decade with her dry wit and the occasional song. Using her charm and intelligence to get away with anything from the most audacious routines to subtle wordplay, Ria is a popular headline act at clubs around the world.
Ria is also a highly respected festival performer, and has been a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2011. Her 2014 show "School of Riason" was nominated for the Amused Moose Laughter Awards, contained one of Dave TV’s Top 10 Jokes of the Festival, and was commissioned by Radio 4 as a half-hour special, recorded and aired in 2016. Previous projects include her critically acclaimed shows "Thpethial" (2013) and "It’s Not Easy Being Yellow" (2012), which travelled to the Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, and Singapore International Festivals. Her most recent show, Taboo Raider (2015), was filmed for DVD release and is due out in Spring 2016.
Ria's talents have also been in demand in television, with her writing and acting in the ITV2 comedy sketch show Meet the Blogs, as well as writing and presenting her own documentary for Channel 4 revealing the truth behind the myths that surround oriental women in Britain. Other projects include the comedy series, Sweet n' Sour Comedy and Malai Monologues, for BBC3, and The World Stands Up, for Comedy Central (USA), the Paramount Comedy Channel (UK), and the Comedy Network Channel (AUS).

Stuart Goldsmith is an internationally award-winning comedian, writer, podcaster and host.
With a reputation for smart, accessible stand-up, Stuart’s enthusiasm and natural charm conceal a quick wit and fearlessness honed by his early career as a street performer. Surprisingly candid about his exploits, sexploits and textploits, Stuart likes to get his teeth into love, romance and the downside of getting what you want.
In addition to his stand-up credentials, recent years have seen Stuart build a reputation as a highly skilled interviewer and engaging host. His always insightful and often inspiring The Comedian’s Comedian podcast shines a light on the darkest creative secrets of his fellow comics, and is much beloved by comedy fans, performers and industry alike. Previous guests include Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr, Tim Minchin, Russell Howard, Sarah Millican, Al Murray, Ross Noble, Tim Vine and David O’Doherty.
A familiar face on the national comedy circuit, Stuart continues to build his audience internationally, performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, where he won the Spirit of the Festival Award. In 2015 he made his debut at the prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, receiving rave reviews as part of the Brit-ish line-up show and securing a series of high profile guests for The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast, including a live interview with legendary American comic Patton Oswalt.
